 Geraldine was born December 29, 1919, in Paynesville, Minnesota, daughter of Frank Jahn and Frances Hartmann, and twin sister of Gerald. She attended elementary and high school in Paynesville.

On August 25, 1937, she married Alois John Barthel, son of Math Barthel and Anna Karsch, in Paynesville. Al was born December 1, 1914, in St. Martin, Minnesota. They lived in Melrose, St Cloud, Minneapolis, and Paynesville while Al was pursuing a variety of occupations.

Al died March 2, 1968, in Paynesville, and Geraldine joined him July 18, 1971. They are buried together in the Paynesville cemetery.

1. Dale Richard Barthel, born July 23, 1940, in Melrose, Minnesota; married April 15, 1961, in Paynesville to Donna Marie Revier, who was born September 25, 1940. Donna's parents are Donald E. Revier and Marie E. Shrump of Northfield, Minnesota.

   1. Dawn Marie Barthel, born May 13, 1962, in Paynesville. Married May 21, 1983, in St. Cloud to Mark Wayne Adelman, born July 6, 1962, to Eugene Adelman and Linda Zimmerman.

      (1) Lindsey Marie Adelman, born September 20, 1987, in St. Cloud.
      (2) Leah Nicole Adelman, born December 26, 1996, in St. Cloud.

   2. Darla Renee Barthel, born July 14, 1964, in Paynesville. Married February 16, 2001, in St. Cloud to Michael Leon Bourgeois, born June 2, 1955, to Francis Leon Bourgeois and Helen Joyce Von Drasek.

      (1) Shawn Michael Bourgeois, born September 13, 1995, in Coon Rapids.

   3. Danielle Rae Barthel, born May 3, 1966, in St. Cloud. Married June 21, 1986, in St. Cloud to Leonard Ronald Juenemann, born August 16, 1963, to Ronald Juenemann and Audrey David.

      (1) Ashley Ann Juenemann, born December 23, 1991, in St. Cloud.
      (2) Alicia Marie Juenemann, born May 26, 1993, in St. Cloud.
      (3) Tyler Dale Juenemann, born June 29, 1995, in St. Cloud.

   4. Dena Marie Barthel, born November 27, 1972, in St. Cloud. Married September 15, 1995, in St. Cloud to John Joseph Lenneman, born March 19, 1964, to Thomas Henry Lenneman and Joanne Marguerite Oeffling.

      (1) Chase Johnathon Lenneman, born March 8, 1996, in St. Cloud.

2. Janice Elizabeth Barthel, born April 17, 1945, in Minneapolis. Married in Paynesville June 23, 1972, to Jerome Frank Zumwalde, who was born June 4, 1946, to Alfred Andrew Zumwalde and Caroline Catherine Bellmont. Jerome and Janice live in Paynesville.

   3. Jana Kay Zumwalde, born March 23, 1982.

3. Steven Gerald Barthel, born July 14, 1946, in Paynesville. Married July 13, 1968, to Jean Ann Thayer, born October 22, 1948, to Maurice Thayer and Audrey Custer.
