 Homer was born June 14, 1915, in Houston, Texas, son of Edward Jahn, Jr., and Aline Blair. When he was thirteen his father died, and Homer left school to make his own living. Through perseverance and on-the-job training, he became an electrician. On February 19, 1938, in Houston, he married Edith Wilhelmina Grober, daughter of Ernest Grober and Florence Callihan. Edith was born April 28, 1916, in Houston. During World War II Homer served in the United States Navy. Homer died July 21, 1984, after a long illness which left him incapacitated for several years. Exactly one year later, July 21, 1985, Edith joined him in death.

Homer and Edith had one child:

1. Homer Alvin, Jr., born May 5, 1942, in Houston. Married Kathleen Gayle Wise in Houston, January 12, 1962. Kathleen was born December 1, 1942, in Houston to Peggy Eugenia Apffel and Phillip Gorden Lem. Homer died August 3, 2008, in Houston.

   1. Keith Edward, born September 19, 1963, in Houston. Married Sheri Aileen Abramson on September 7, 1987, in Houston. Sheri was born July 31, 1963, in Houston, to Paula and Allen Abramson.

      (1) Morgan Ashlee Jahn, born June 1, 1990, in Houston.
      (2) Erin Nicole Jahn, born October 1, 1992, in Houston.
      (3) Emma Claire Jahn, born March 17, 1996, in Houston.

   2. Melissa Gayle, born February 23, 1965, in Houston. Married Mark Neer, born January 3, 1964, in Houston.

      (1) Lauren Taylor Neer, born December 25, 1994, in Houston.
      (2) Samantha Neer, born October 1, 1997, in Houston.

   3. Kevin Allen, born June 21, 1970, in Houston. Married Jennifer Jeanette Stone on August 22, 1992, in Houston. Jennifer was born July 29, 1971, in Houston, to Harold Stone and Patty Coker.

      (1) McKenzie Faith Jahn, born October 28, 1999, in Houston.

      (2) Holden Jahn.
