The Little Flower Homeschool Academy is named after Saint Therese of Lisieux, who was known as the Little Flower, and famously said, “Do small things with great love.” This is our school motto.
This blog is a way to record some of our journey so we can look back and see how far we’ve come. I had a blog with many homeschooling stories that I lost when I migrated my site, which was heartbreaking. But I’m taking a deep breath and starting from scratch.
We have homeschooled since the beginning… I started formally homeschooling in 2009 when my oldest child was 5 and in first grade. Thus the 2019-20 school year marks the 11th year of the LFHA. I still get just as excited to start a new year as I did back then. Maybe more excited, since I have more confidence and experience now. Homeschooling 5 children is definitely a much bigger challenge than homeschooling 1, but the joy it brings is immeasurable. Through the good days and the hard days, the days when everyone cooperates and when nobody (including me!) wants to do school, I get the immense privilege of watching my children grow and learn.
