Ruth was born March 20, 1926 in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan, daughter of Ted Jahn and May Rooney, and moved with her parents to Prairie River, Saskatchewan, in 1939. She obtained her high school diploma through a correspondence school and took a stenography course in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1944. After working 12 years in Hamilton and in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she emigrated to San Francisco, California. On April 23, 1959, in Oakland, California, she married Alan Bateman, born April 9, 1918, in Manitoba, son of Herbert Bateman and Wilhelmina Strand. Ruth and Alan lived in San Leandro, California. Alan worked for the Western Pacific Railroad before his retirement. Ruth died of cancer on October 15, 1998, in San Leandro. Alan died July 26, 2005 in California. Dorothy Janice, born April 28, 1960, in Oakland. Died January 30, 1963, in San Leandro. -
Ronald Edward, born March 11, 1962, in Oakland. Died March 25, 1986, in San Leandro. -
